- The film will reportedly ignore the events of Batman Forever (1995) and Batman & Robin (1997) and come up with new stories about Michael Keaton’s Batman to fill the gap between Batman Returns (1992) and this film.
- In contrast to the infamously troubled production of “Justice League”, Ben Affleck said that he had a great time reprising his role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in this film.
- At San Diego Comic Con 2017, it was announced that this film would be a loose adaptation of The Flashpoint storyline.
- The film is confirmed not to be an origin story.
Fun Facts about The Flash The Movie
- Michael Keaton will be 71 at the time of this film’s release, making him the oldest actor to play Batman in a live-action film or TV series. The only actors who were older were Adam West, who was 88 when he voiced Batman for a final time in Batman Vs. Dos Caras (2017) (released after his death), and Olan Soule, who was 74 when he voiced Batman for a final time in the seventh season of Súper Amigos (1973).

- The character of Kara Zor-El, the most famous version of Supergirl, was featured in a comic prequel for El hombre de acero (2013) as part of the crew that brought a Kryptonian ship to Earth, which later becomes Clark’s Fortress of Solitude. Kara disappeared after the crash and has yet to be seen again.
- The third adaptation based on the Flashpoint storyline after La Liga de la Justicia: La paradoja del tiempo (2013) and season 3 of The Flash (2014).
- Greg Berlanti was at one point attached to direct the film. He subsequently went on to develop The Flash (2014) TV Series.
- This will be Andy Muschietti’s first non-horror movie.
- Kiersey Clemons was cast as Iris West in Justice League but her scenes were cut. Her scenes were subsequently reintegrated for Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
- Andy Muschietti recorded and shared the moment he told Sasha Calle that she was going to portray Supergirl in the movie, bringing her to tears. Helen Slater was also recorded when told by producers she had gotten the role, a moment featured in the making of Supergirl (1984).
- With his appearance in this film, Ben Affleck will have played the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman four times in live-action films, more than any other actor, although he is the only Batman never to have a standalone movie.
- Jeffrey Dean Morgan joked that Michael Keaton was stealing his job from him. In the Flashpoint comic book, the alternate Batman Barry meets is Thomas Wayne, Bruce’s father, who became Batman after Bruce was murdered, and Morgan played Thomas Wayne in Batman v Superman. El amanecer de la justicia (2016).
- James Wan was considered by Warner Bros. to direct a film about either Aquaman or The Flash. He ultimately chose to do Aquaman (2018) as he saw it as an opportunity to do something original and unique in the superhero genre.

- Andy Muschietti stated that elements of the Flashpoint storyline will be incorporated into the film.
- Ray Fisher was included as Cyborg with a significant role in the film at this point, but was written out of the script in January 2021, allegedly in retaliation for his exposure of abuse at DC Films.
- Bradley Cooper, Chris Pine, Ryan Kwanten, Matthew Fox and Scott Porter were linked for the role of Barry Allen/The Flash before Ezra Miller was cast.
- Ezra Miller and comic writer Grant Morrison wrote a draft of the script with a darker take on the character but the studio has decided not to move forward with their version.
- Robert Zemeckis, Sam Raimi, Matthew Vaughn and Marc Webb were the front-runners for to direct the film. However, Raimi and Webb passed on the project. Christopher Miller and Phil Lord were also under consideration to direct.
- Billy Crudup was set to reprise his role as Henry Allen but later dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.
- The thirteenth film in the DC Extended Universe.
- This film will reportedly feature Ben Affleck as the Batman for the final time in the DCEU.

- David S. Goyer was attached to direct the film with Ryan Reynolds as Barry Allen. When Goyer left the film, Shawn Levy was picked to direct the film that would featured Wally West, Levy departed from The Flash due to his commitment to Noche en el museo 2 (2009) and was replaced by David Dobkin.
- Grant Gustin denied the report that his Barry Allen/The Flash the TV series The Flash (2014) will be appearing in the movie.
- Sasha Calle did a chemistry test with Ezra Miller as part of her audition, which also included Mexican and Brazilian actresses, such as Bruna Marquezine and Isis Valverde. The two actresses were top choices for the role, but the COVID-19 pandemic prevented them from traveling to London.
- Seth Grahame-Smith, Rick Famuyiwa and John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein were set to direct the film at certain stages of the film’s pre-production, however all have dropped out citing creative differences.
- Producer Barbara Muschietti’s liking on a post on Instagram, comparing Sasha Calle to the Cir-El version of Supergirl, ignited fan theories that Calle is actually going to portray this character in the film. Calle later shared a picture of herself sporting a shorter hairstyle, also compared to Cir-El’s. The first look on her in costume during filming in London suggested this Supergirl is based on Lara Lane Kent, from the “Injustice” universe.
- Julia Roberts and Julianne Moore were considered for the role of Nora Allen.
- Daniel Radcliffe expressed interest in playing The Flash.
- Rita Ora and Lucy Boynton were the frontrunners for Iris West before it went to Kiersey Clemons.
- This will be Christina Hodson’s second DC Extended Universe film that she has worked on after Aves de presa (y la fantabulosa emancipación de Harley Quinn) (2020).
THE FLASH The Movie
- This will be the second movie in the DC Extended Universe to be filmed entirely with IMAX cameras by Henry Braham, BSC, after The Suicide Squad (2021).
- The film was initially scheduled for release on March 23, 2018, when Warner Bros. first announced their slate of DCEU films, before it was moved to March 16 of the same year. In July 2016, this release date was assumed by Warner Bros. Pictures’ Tomb Raider and The Flash was not given another release date at that time. When Andy Muschietti was hired as director in July 2019, the film was slated for release on July 1, 2022, it was then moved up to June 3, 2022, the film was moved to November 4, 2022, when Warner Bros. shifted its release schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In March 2022, it was moved to the June 23, 2023 release date to its current March 2023 date for additional post production work on CGI special effects that were needed as a result of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the film industry.
- Tom Cruise was one of the first people to see the film, having been sent a copy of it months before its theatrical release. He screened it at his home in Beverly Hills and loved it so much that he called director Andy Muschietti to congratulate him.
- Ezra Miller and Billy Crudup previously starred together in the “Stanford Prison Experiment (2015)”.
- Ezra Miller showed the first teaser during the 2021 edition of DC FanDome, the online fan convention.
- Warner Bros released both the trailer and TV spot on February 12, 2023 during Super Bowl LVII, three character posters of The Flash, Batman and Supergirl on February 13, 2023, and the first photo of Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne on February 14, 2023.
- After the DCEU has been scrapped in late 2022, James Gunn has stated that this film, along with Aquaman 2, will serve as a soft reboot to the DC franchise. It will now be known as the DCU (DC Cinematic Universe). Any other DC films/shows that occurs outside this new timeline will now belong to a universe called DC Elseworlds. The DCU will be led by James Gunn.

- John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein who wrote drafts of the script and were slated to helm the project, have moved on.
- Michael Shannon was hesitant to return as General Zod because of the circumstances of Zack Snyder’s exit from the franchise. He finally agreed after Snyder gave him his blessing.
- When an unfinished edit of this film was shown to a test audience in 2022 it purportedly gained some of the highest scores for a test screening of any Warner Bros film since ‘The Dark Knight’ (2008). Warner Bros were so pleased with this reaction that they confirmed the release date pretty much straight away.
- This film reunites screenwriters Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley and actor Michael Keaton from the MCU film Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017). Keaton played Adrian Toomes/Vulture in that film.
- Production commenced 4 years before the final release. The reason for the long gestation period was partly down to the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020/21 impacting the industry, uncertainty over the future of the DCEU at Warner Bros after a string of under-performing and poorly received films, a backlog of major films from other studios vying for screen space and lack of a suitable window to release this in. Issues surrounding the private life and behavior of star Ezra Miller have not helped either.
- This film was first announced in 2014, and finally released in 2023. Its development and production spanned all nine seasons of The Flash (2014) TV series.
- Nicolas Cage voiced Superman in Teen titans :go to the movies (2018).
- A rumor reported that Kiersey Clemons was not going to return as Iris West and the studio was going to recast the role.
